On 19th March our Board Director and Head of Planning and Development, Jonathan Manns, was invited to give a guest lecture to students reading for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Cardiff University.
The university, which is ranked amongst the top 50 universities in the world for built environment studies, has a strong reputation for research and teaching excellence, with Jon’s guest lecture contributing to their rich and varied programme.
Jon ran through the basics of property development, identified key themes and considerations and explored the implications for London as a global city in a speech focussed on “Planning & Development in Practice”. He drew on both experience and research in a two-hour keynote which covered design, finance, economics and philosophy.
We’re pleased to say that a number of students have since been in touch directly to express their thanks, with widespread appreciation for “a great presentation” and “insight which has definitely improved my knowledge of how the property market works”. Writing after the lecture one student said:
“I have to say it really was an excellent lecture. It has helped me have a deeper understanding of the current property market and the important role of planning. The London example has inspired me to consider the relationships between various sectors and how they interact with each other.”
We are, of course, delighted to have such feedback and to be able to play our part as a business in educating the next generation of built environment professionals.
