Earlier this year Rockwell celebrated the start of construction at 82 West, at a ground-breaking ceremony attended by both local representatives and the community.
Although the UK has faced significant disruption in recent months due the impact of Covid-19, Rockwell’s contractor, John Sisk & Sons, has continued with construction of this landmark 30-storey building. Whilst being respectful of the UK Government’s guidance and social distancing, significant progress has been made and we’re pleased to confirm that the development remains on schedule for completion in early 2022.
Designed by world-renowned architects, SimpsonHaugh, 82 West is a mixed-use hotel and residential development at the gateway to Canary Wharf’s central cluster. It will comprise a 400-bedroom Premier Inn alongside 66 beautifully crafted new homes, with a restaurant and café, gym facilities and a landscaped pocket park. It will deliver a mix of affordable housing and create up to 200 jobs in the hospitality and leisure industry.
Jonathan Manns, Board Director and Head of Planning and Development commented:
“The project team has made fantastic progress on the construction of this landmark development. Despite the difficulties faced as a result of the recent pandemic, we are proud to be running to schedule with the delivery and are delighted with the progress which has been made so far, which we believe is remarkable.”
