Working for a Better Tower Hamlets

On 21 July, Jonathan Manns, Board Director and Head of Planning and Development at Rockwell, appeared as panellist at the Built Environment Network’s Transforming Tower Hamlets event.

This unique webinar, which moved a popular Royal Institution event online in response to the challenges of Covid-19, drew an audience of 300+ professionals from some of the biggest names in London’s professional and community organisations to explore best practice in the built environment through the lens of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

Jon’s presentation was focussed on Rockwell’s development philosophy and the approach which we take to placemaking, whilst also providing an insight into the projects we’re currently delivering in the Borough at Quay House and 82 West. He talked at length about the partnerships Rockwell has with organisations such as Parkour Generations, London Training Centre, Boundary Community School and Westferry FC. This was, in particular, to emphasise the role that community has to play in the long-term success of a scheme and the benefits which well-considered and full engagement can bring to the long-term success of both a particular development and the community in which it arrives.

Jon’s speech reflects views which Rockwell have made widely, most recently for New London Architecture. As always, it’s something we’d be  delighted to discuss or expand upon with those who are interested.
