Raising £2,500 to Tackle Youth Homelessness

In March 2020, we announced are excitement at becoming Foundation Partners of LandAid, the property industry charity working to end youth homelessness in the UK.

LandAid brings together businesses and individuals from across the industry to support and deliver life-changing projects for young people who are or have been homeless, or who are at risk of homelessness. Each year, LandAid funds numerous projects that renovate existing or create new safe, secure, and affordable accommodation for young homeless people.

Whilst the pandemic has restricted our ability to hold some fundraising events this year, it has not dampened our enthusiasm to support the causes which we care about. To that end, seeing a break in the restrictions, the team quickly sought to organise their next challenge: a 100km London to Cambridge cycle ride.

On 1 October, the team braved the early-Autumn rain to ride from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park at Stratford to Kings College in Cambridge. Completing the journey under 6 hours, we are delighted to announce that we met and exceeded our fundraising target of £2,500.

“LandAid is a wonderful charity which does exceptionally important work for a very deserving cause that is close to the hearts of everybody at Rockwell. We’re delighted to have been able to exceed our fundraising target for this cycle ride and look forward to supporting their work with further events over the coming months. We’re hoping to raise £10,000 for LandAid by Summer 2021 and the success of this event puts us off to a fantastic start.”

Commenting on the news, LandAid CEO, Paul Morrish, said:

“LandAid are incredibly proud to be partnering with Rockwell this year. A big thank you to the team for their epic cycle from London to Cambridge on behalf of the LandAid team. I would also like to add our congratulations for completing the challenge in the rain!”

Whilst we’re looking forward to our next fundraiser, we are welcoming donations until the end of October (link). To keep up-to-date with our future events and next plans, please follow us on LinkedIn  and Twitter!
