Rockwell lends a helping hand to the Katherine Low Settlement
On Friday 15 November, Rockwell and KLS came together, along with the charity’s trustees and members of the local community, to celebrate the completion of essential improvements works at the KLS community centre. Renovations to the centre’s bathrooms and necessary basement structural works were carried out to ensure the community centre is fit-for-purpose and remains an important part of the local community for years to come.
KLS is an important charity which works to reduce poverty and isolation and bring the community together, including through supporting older people, children, young people and their families from refugee backgrounds and newly-arrived adults learning English. Over 500 people visit KLS’s building each week to access their important services, leading to a strain being put on the charity’s facilities, which were in much need of refurbishment.
At the celebration on Friday, speeches were heard from Sarah Gibb, KLS Chief Executive, alongside Construction Managing Director of Rockwell, David Gaffney.
David Gaffney commented: “We are delighted to complete this project for the Katherine Low Settlement, an incredible charity at the heart of the community in Battersea which has been working to reduce poverty and isolation since 1924.
At Rockwell, we believe in building with purpose and passion, crafting best-in-class developments that transform urban landscapes and enrich communities. As we create new spaces and build communities, our mission is to bring positive change. We like to go beyond the building project, and opportunities like these, where we can make a long-lasting difference to people in the local area, are so important to us.”
