Vetro Shortlisted for the Property Awards 2024

We are pleased to announce that our landmark development in Westferry, Vetro, was recently shortlisted by Property Week for the ‘Placemaking and Social Value Award’, which celebrates the best commercial or commercial-led mixed-use development scheme that has regenerated or physically improved the built environment on and around a particular site, disused building or location. Vetro is joined by a selection of the very best developments across the UK which have created incredible new places and provided a lasting legacy of social value in the local community.

Vetro features 68 apartments with panoramic views of London and the River Thames, alongside the largest off-airport Premier Inn in Europe, a restaurant, gym, podium garden and pocket park at ground level. At Vetro we also completed a total renovation of the public realm access at ground level, transforming this place around Westferry DLR by radically improving the appearance, safety and efficiency of the area, which had remained horded and vacant for over a decade.

Contributing social value through Vetro began with identifying the challenges faced by those in the local community, and in our research, we found there was high unemployment for the borough’s BME women. To address this, we partnered with the London Training Centre and Boundary Community School during the construction period at Vetro to deliver skills training to help over 300 local women gain qualifications and access jobs in the hotel and hospitality sector. Our research also led us to Westferry FC, a local youth football side supporting players’ personal development with training sessions and workshops, and it was our pleasure to raise £6,000 for the side through a head-to-head match, helping them to continue supporting young men in the borough for years to come.
