Rockwell Hosts Public Consultation for One Battersea Bridge Proposals
Between Wednesday 22nd November-Wednesday 6th December we are welcoming members of the local community to view and provide feedback on the proposals.
One Battersea Bridge, currently an office building known as “Glassmill”, is a brownfield site in Wandsworth, which is energy inefficient, currently only at circa 50% occupancy and at the end of its lifecycle.
The site is well positioned, easily accessible by walking, cycling, and by public transport. Located within 10 minutes’ walk to Battersea Park, the site context is varied with the River Thames to the north, residential uses to the west, office and educational uses to the east-south. Located close to Royal College of Art and Foster + Partners campuses the Site can form part of an exciting creative quarter.
Our vision is to transform the underutilised site into much needed homes, providing up to 150-160 new homes, 50-60 of which will be affordable.
In addition to these much-needed new homes, designed by award winning architects Farrells, which will alleviate local housing pressures, our ambition is to make significant improvements to the public realm and create new community space which we understand to be a key local priority from our first community consultation. We are targeting an ‘Excellent’ BREAAM rating, with sustainability and longevity being key pillars guiding the proposals.
At Rockwell, we pride ourselves on regular and thorough engagement with the local communities within which we are working. Therefore, we welcome those from Battersea and wider-Wandsworth to join us this week online and in person.
