Rockwell Supports ‘Big Play Out’ With Redknapps Football Masterclass
Yesterday, Rockwell attended the Battersea Summer Scheme’s ‘Big Play Out’, putting on a football training session led by father-son football duo, Harry and Jamie Redknapp, for children from local youth clubs.
The ‘Big Play Out’ is the flagship event in an annual scheme of free summer activities organised by the Battersea Crime Prevention Panel for less advantaged children based in the Battersea area. Taking place over a week, the Big Play Out has art classes, dance lessons, music workshops, movie sessions and many other events, including sports activities.
This year, Rockwell supported the ‘Big Play Out’, by funding a football training session led by legendary father-son football duo, Harry and Jamie Redknapp, in partnership with Skechers, for young footballers from local Battersea youth clubs Caius House and Junction Elite FC.
The session included a tactical masterclass with the Redknapps, where they built their ‘best team’ of footballers, followed by a dynamic training session, including drills, 5-a-side games, and coaching from Harry and Jamie. As a special gift, each child was presented with a full Skechers training kit, in addition to a pair of the latest Skechers football boots, the same worn by Harry Kane at the 2024 Euros – the Skechers SKX 01 and RAZOR.
Harry Redknapp expressed his enthusiasm, “It’s fantastic to see the smiles on these kids’ faces. Football has the power to bring people together and create positive change, and it’s an honour to be part of this initiative. I hope today’s session inspires them to follow their dreams both on and off the pitch.”
Nicholas Mee, Managing Director of Rockwell, also shared his thoughts, “At Rockwell, we are committed to giving back to the communities we serve. This football training session is a great way to provide local children with unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experiences and valuable life lessons. We are proud to fund such a meaningful event and to see the joy it brings to the kids.”
Vanessa Wride, Administrator at the Battersea Summer Scheme, said, “This festival is all about creating special moments and opportunities for the children in our community. Having the Redknapps here today, along with the support from Rockwell and Skechers, has made this event truly unforgettable. The kids are leaving with new skills, inspiration, and the confidence to pursue their passions.”
