Rockwell Raise over £3,000 for Keeping Families Together
In November last year, the team walked 30km across London throughout the night in support of Wandsworth-based charity Keeping Families Together (KFT) raising more than £3,000. Starting at Vetro, near Canary Wharf, the 6-hour walk took them through East London, south of the river onto Battersea and then to Hurlingham Waterfront, before heading to Rockwell’s office on St. James’s Square.
KFT helps families who are struggling with day-to-day issues by providing support for parents and children through workshops on issues of loneliness and protecting families from gang culture. When it comes to child protection and child in need meetings, they’re the ones who stand by the side of the families and liaise with social services, schools, parents, and other professionals to empower families and minimise the risk of young people becoming isolated in society. What’s special about Keeping Families Together is their early intervention approach – the sooner they get involved, the better chance they have to support families.
Dee Makwana, Volunteer Director at Keeping Families Together, said: “We would like to a say big thank you to Rockwell Property for their continued support for Keeping Families Together. Our vision is to enable and empower young people and families to prosper in life. With Rockwell’s donation we are able to help those most in need across South West London.”
One service user said: “KFT have been amazing! Great to have support from people who understand and do not judge. I saw Lisa and she’s been great. I highly recommend.”
Another added: “Thank you for supporting my family through the impossible. I don’t know what I would have done without your services. Thank you Dee. Thank you to your team. I love the name Keeping Families Together; it brings much needed hope.”
To further support the life changing work provided by Keeping Families Together, Rockwell now look forward to the next challenge as they ascend their very own Everest and embark on a combined 2,700 storey climb of Vetro, their 30-storey development in Westferry, to fundraise for the charity.
The team will take turns to climb the staircase at Vetro accumulating a height equivalent to that of the 29,000 ft. Mount Everest; any donations would be gratefully received. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Rockwell-KeepingFamiliesTogethers
